Ngilu said it is disrespectful for politicians to take politics to churches and funerals.

Speaking when she distributed sanitary pads to girls at Mwingi Central Primary School on Tuesday, the governor asked politicians to respect God and the dead.

She said the trending behavior, common among some politicians in the county, is bad and has to be stopped.

“It is wrong for politician's to take their issues to churches and funerals, we must show some respect and stop these bad behavior,” Ngilu said.

Ngilu told worshippers to eject politicians who campaign during church services in the county.

The Kitui governor also warned politicians against engaging in premature 2022 campaigns.

She said it is barely a year since the last general election and politicians are already out campaigning.

“It is unfortunate that people are talking about being president in 2022 yet we just had elections the other day,” the former Cabinet Secretary said.

Ngilu asked politicians to halt the debates and focus on addressing pressing issues facing Kenyans.

The 2022 political debates continue to gain heat as politicians seek endorsements and partnerships.

The debates have been amplified by the call for the constitutional amendment by various politicians and leaders across the country and political divide.
