Kitui governor Charity Ngilu has urged Kenyans to remain calm and peaceful amid political uncertainty in the country.
Addressing supporters in Kitui Town on Tuesday, Ngilu pleaded with Kenyans to embrace unity and not to be divided by political events happening in the country.
The Kitui county boss said that peace is what matters most adding that every Kenyan has a responsibility to preach unity.
“I am urging Kenyans (whether they support Jubilee or NASA) to remain united and peaceful in the height of political uncertainty,” she said on Tuesday.
Ngilu also urged Kenyans to pray for peace and unity.
She said that the country is staring at political, social and economic crisis, adding that its only prayers and good political will from politicians across the divide that will save the country.
Ngilu at the same time urged the IEBC to listen to the grievances being raised by NASA before the repeat presidential poll.
The governor said that NASA’s push for electoral reforms are genuine and not malicious as being claimed by a section of Jubilee politicians.
Governor Ngilu said that for credible election to be realized reforms at the IEBC is a must.
NASA is pushing for electoral reforms through weekly street protests.
On Tuesday, NASA presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga withdrew from the October 26 repeat poll.
Odinga said that he cannot participate in repeat election that is allegedly been predetermined.
The NASA leader claimed that IEBC and Jubilee are opposed to free, fair, transparent and credible repeat presidential election.
Odinga now wants the IEBC to cancel the October repeat poll.
Jubilee politicians have since rubbished Odinga’s withdrawal saying that the repeat election will take place whether Odinga participate or not.
A section of Jubilee politicians also want IEBC to declare Uhuru president stating that they are ready to swear him in.
