Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has issued a stern warning to non-performing County Executive Committee (CECs) members.

Ngilu says that she will not hesitate to sack county ministers who are not performing their duties.

Speaking when she met county top officials on Saturday, the governor said county ministers must up their game and help her fulfill the promises she made to the Kitui people.

Ngilu asked ministers and top county officers who feel overwhelmed with work to resign and give space to other people who are ready to serve.

The Kitui governor said that she is under pressure from the locals, adding that every county official must play his or her role in ensuring speedy service delivery.

She said that Kitui people deserve services adding, that her administration will do everything to ensure they get services.

"Anyone who feels that he or she is not ready to do what we have agreed on should just tender his or resignation and pave way for other people who want to serve  Kitui people," she said as quoted by a local daily.

The governor also issued a stern warning to staff against engaging in corruption.

She said that her government is corruption free, adding that anyone who engages in it will face the wrath of the law.

She asked Kitui people to report county officials who demand bribes before discharging their duties.

Ngilu said that her government is closely working with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and other agencies to tame corruption.
