A Kisii based non-governmental organisation has challenged the media to highlight health reproductive issues and family planning.

Addressing the press on Wednesday in Kisii town, Daraja United Women and Youths Empowerment Organisation chief executive Winfridah Abuya said such messages would reach a wider audience if the media played a role.

“The media is an important tool in dissemination of information to the public. The mandate of our NGO is to train and help mothers and youths on the importance of embracing family planning and learning more about reproductive health. We will achieve this through coverage and dissemination of our programmes,” noted the CEO.

Mrs Abuya also challenged other NGOs to join hands to fight against vulnerability and help people with information about reproductive health and family planning.

“I ask other NGOs like the Network of Adolescence Youth of Africa that has been our partner to stand with us so that we can help our people understand about reproductive health and family planning,” the CEO appealed.
