The NGOCouncil of Kenya is asking Kenyans to maintain peace even as the country awaits the verdict of the seven Supreme Court judges on the petition by Raila Odinga challenging Uhuru Kenyatta’s win.
The ruling will be made tomorrow, Friday.
In a press statement, the council’s national chairman Stephen Cheboi hailed the judges, lead councils of the petitioners and respondents in the case, for the peaceful hearing of the Nasa petition.
“We laud the Supreme Court Judges led by David Maraga, all the Lead Counsels of both the petitioner and defense for the successful and peaceful hearing of the Presidential Petition at the Supreme Court of Kenya, Nairobi for the last two days. The hearing period of the petition and response by all the parties was very successful,” said Cheboi.
Cheboi called on Kenyans to remain peaceful even after the ruling is delivered so as to protect the image of the country.
“Kenya is a respected nation across the continent and the globe at large and the behavior and peaceful conduct of its citizens will continue to earn the nation and citizens a great respect from all quarters across the world,” he said.
