A nongovernmental organisation, Family Health Options Kenya on Thursday launched a free breast and cervical cancer screening in Kibera.

Women are also being educated on family planning during the free medical camp.

The medical check up at Makina Baptist Church will run until Saturday.

Even though a few women showed up on the first day, those who came said they were satisfied with the services offered.

Sylvia Mutali thanked the organisers and challenged other women to take advantage of the free check up.

Vivian Cherop said she was comfortable with the report given by the attendants.

She also urged fellow youths and young mothers to go for the check up since cervical cancer cases have currently become rampant in the nation.

“I don’t say I am sick. I am very normal but we should not be ignorant. You cannot tell the disease you have until you are examined by a doctor. So my call to fellow youths is that they should come out in large numbers and the get free information concerning their health,’’ said Cherop.
