A Kisii based NGO has raised concern over increased suicide cases involving men and children in the region.

Baptist Community organization director identified as Bonareri on Thursday said the number of those committing suicide in the County is alarming.

She said desperate men who have lost their wives are the most affected.

“The number of men committing suicide is high. There is a need for the church and government to intervene and counsel men to prevent them from committing suicide due to desperation,” she noted.

Bonareri also noted that the number of children from poor families committing suicide is on the rise.

“Children aged between 3-15 years have committed suicide in what is believed to be poor family living conditions. Teachers and parents should play their roles by advising the children to work hard to change their lives in future instead of committing suicide," she added.
