A local internationally linked Non-Governmental Organization has pledged to donate Sh20 million worth building materials to Children homes and marginalized areas schools in Nakuru County.
The Director of Education Supplements International (ESI), Joseph Simiyu in an interview with journalists on Friday in his office at the Ngo’s centre in Milimani estate in Nakuru town said the organization was busy procuring for the building materials that would be distributed as donations to over fifteen schools and ten Children Homes in Nakuru County mid this month.
According to Simiyu, his group solicits for international donations with an aim of providing opportunities to children from poor backgrounds meet their education and social welfare needs.
“We believe that with education and basic needs being provided the children can eventually fight their way out of poverty and improve their communities,” said Simiyu.
The director hinted that his organization will donate tons of timber, cement, maize, rice and clothes to registered Children’s Homes and slum linked schools in all sub counties in Nakuru.
The NGO, which also runs several orphanage homes in the country, works closely with marginalized communities to improve poverty circles by sponsoring self-help youth and women projects like table banking, agree-business and crafts.
