Kenyan representative of African Network Against Child Neglect and Health Dr. Eunice Mung’asia has said that the Organisation will collaborate with other stakeholders to empower Women Groups in Nakuru with child protection skills.
According to Dr. Mung’asia, the Organisation will establish a child protection centre in Nakuru to facilitate training on child protection and health targeting members of local Women Groups.
Dr. Mung’asia who is also a child welfare activist revealed this during a Reproductive Health Workshop at Mericca Hotel on Thursday which was organised by the county government Nakuru’s Ministry of Health to provide awareness on various reproductive health challenges among women in the county.
Dr. Munga’sai observed that challenges of child protection begin from conception. She noted that women both young and mature need to acquire child protection skills to promote child protection and health in their respective communities.
“Problems related to child protection begin once a woman conceives but not only after birth. Women who practice abortion definitely are the same as those who give birth and subject their children to abuse and neglect,’’ noted Dr. Munga’sai.
She said that Child Protection Training Centre will provide a sustainable child protection programme in the county and will also save lives of many women who die while undergoing abortion or child birth.
