During the closure of a two-day workshop that was meant to showcase the progress of the projects on Wednesday, the CAF representative Momina  Bonaya said that by June 2015, the Sh130 million projects will be handed over to the county government.

Bonaya said CAF has run the projects in six wards in the remote areas of the county whereby the communities involved have had a chance to learn to manage their own activities.

“After taking the community members through a series of trainings, we are glad they are able to conduct self–assessment to oversee what has been achieved and what can be done to improve on the projects,” said Bonaya.

She also made it clear that the CAF Committee (CAFC) is democratically elected by the community regardless of literacy or education level.

According to Bonaya, CAF expects minimal political intervention once handed over to the county government.

“If politics is allowed in the selection of the CAFC, there will be interference on the smooth running of the projects,” she said emphasizing that the communities ought to manage their own natural resources with little intervention from outside forces.

The workshop was held at Coconut Grill Hotel from Tuesday.
