Kiambu County children will this year have a chance to engage into a reading competition after Storymoja, an NGO has partnered with the county government to entertain the children through reading.

According to the NGO’s operations Manager Jane Mbogori, the activity is set to be held annually from this year throughout the county where they are to ensure that all the children are involved to enhance their reading skills.

She added that through the initiative read aloud by the group, the children will have a chance to be excited in reading activities and inculcate a reading culture which, according to him, will ensure that children perform better in their education.

Mbogori was speaking in Gatundu North over the weekend where she accompanied Kiambu County governor’s wife Philomena Kabogo in presiding over the launch of the NGO’s library which is aimed at encouraging the children in the area engage into a lot of reading.

In the same meeting, Kiambu County Education Executive Esther Ndirangu said that the county is set to support education sector in all ways possible adding that Governor Kabogo has been in the frontline in ensuring the education of Kiambu child is catered for.

Ndirangu said that plans are underway to set a community library in each sub-counties in Kiambu to enhance the reading culture of children and youth of the area.

She called on the learners to rise above their daily challenges so that they can excel in future saying that the young generation is encountering numerous challenges on their learning activities.
