By the time #hivisasa launched a video competition a week ago on Facebook, Elizabeth Anyango, two days later, was still clueless about the development.
A friend she had visited, however, informed her about the campaign of sharing of interesting videos on Facebook using #hivisasa.
"I knew about hivisasa because I read news from that website," she said on Saturday in an interview.
"But a friend told me about a video sharing competition that had been launched. I shared one and luckily I emerged winner because my video registered the highest number of views and shares on Facebook."
The winning video she shared on Facebook can be viewed here.
Anyango graduated in 2012 with a degree in journalism and currently works with a local Non-Governmental Organisation as a data entry officer.
Despite working the for the organisation, her passion to practice journalism has not faded away.
She intends to begin actively sourcing and writing news.
Anyango says hivisasa.com is among her main sources of local news.
She bagged the cash prize to emerge the second winner after Machakos's James Kimani, whose video had the highest shares in the first week received the cash.
She says she will top up the money she won to her savings and buy a still digital camera.
"The money, I intend to channel it to my savings that am planning to buy a professional still camera to enable me improve on my journalism photography skills," she said.
"I am happy for this competition because it is open and anyone can win."
The resident of Embakasi, Nairobi said she will send more videos to hivisasa as she eyes to bag Sh5,000 to be given out again next Saturday.
