Speaking in the estate on Tuesday, the residents also complained of poor drainage system which they said puts them at a risk of contracting diseases like malaria as mosquitoes have found breeding areas in the stagnant water inside the clogged trenches.

"Roads in this estate have become so bad that even the school buses that pick our children to and from school are refusing to enter in the estate. We have to take the kids to the main road where the buses pick them and go for them there after school," Esther Wanja, a resident said.

They say that the worst affected areas have gone for years without the roads being repaired which is also affecting the area motorists negatively.

"With potholes starting here in Chania B all the way to the main road, what do you expect if not regular repairs of our vehicles? We are appealing to the county government to do something because we are fed up by these roads," said Charles Wanjau, a motorist and a resident of Chania B, Ngoingwa.

Paul Kinyajui who ferries customers from Classic shopping centre to town says that the may be forced to demonstrate if the county government does not address their plight immediately.

"We are giving them two weeks to address the problem or we will paralyze transport activities in the town through demonstrations till they hear us", he said.
