Lobby groups in Kisumu have hit out at NGOs in the county for not sensitising the youth on social issues.
Speaking on Wednesday in Kisumu Sports Ground, Alive Today Youth Group, through their chairperson Robert Otieno said that the NGOs have not been doing enough to empower the youth and other lobby groups in the area and have not been on the forefront to highlight issues in society.
According to the chairperson, the NGO bodies have not held trainings for lobby groups and youths to create awareness not launched empowerment programmes for the locals.
“NGOs should come up with training programmes to empower lobby groups and create awareness on social issues,” noted Otieno.
Achiya Youth Group representative James Weke also accused some NGOs of neglecting lobby groups by not including them in their planning noting that empowerment is the key to youth growth.
