The National Council of Non-governmental Organizations has issued fresh threats to rally all its members across the counties to compel the Ethics and Anti-graft Commission (EACC) to make public its investigative reports on corruption.
Addressing the press at a Garissa hotel, the Director of the Council Abdirahaman Borr, said the commission has been investigating a lot of corruption scandals in the country but nothing tangible came out of it.
He said Kenyans were tired of empty talk and now want legal action taken against all those implicated.
The Council Chairman Samuel Githinji also said the public cannot solely rely on statements made by political leaders who are out to advance their own political interests.
“It is our big concern that media reports and the statements being issued by the politicians and a section of the civil society on alleged graft scandals go without action. The statements do not add any value to the big fight against corruption but only serves to fuel panic and despondency among the general public,” he observed.
He thus urged politicians to stop issuing statements on corruption, saying the move widely jeopardises the work of independent institutions mandated with the responsibility of handling such cases.
