This was said Friday by a nominated Member of the County Assembly Margret Kiiru (Nakuru - East) while addressing members of Muungano Trust, Nakuru Chapter at Nyamakoroto slums along Nakuru - Nyahururu highway when the Trust unveiled a complete housing and sanitation charity project that will benefit twenty slum families.

Kiiru noted that many local Non Governmental Organisations sideline the government in their activities yet they stand to gain a lot by working closely with the government.

She observed that the government holds important records and information about all aspects of society hence it is prudent for NGOs to consult the government in their activities for efficiency.

“Some NGOs believe that the government is an enemy and that they should avoid consulting it on various aspects but this is a wrong assumption. The government is the backbone of society. You stand a great chance of enhancing your agenda by closely working with it. You should also participate in passing of laws in the assembly because they can enhance your operations,” said the MCA.
