Bahati Member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri has urged politicians to shun tribalism and focus on uniting Kenyans ahead of the 2017 general election.
Ngunjiri said that the country has 42 plus tribes that should co-exist peacefully without any form of discrimination.
"The constitution is very clear that any Kenya can enter and stay any part of the republic. So I condemn any politician who is trying to divide Kenyans on tribal basis. This country has gone through a lot since 2007 and we don't want to go that way again," said Ngunjiri while addressing the press in his constituency on Sunday.
He further challenged politicians to emulate the Jubilee coalition leadership in ensuring they engage in politics aimed at uniting Kenyans without any discrimination.
"I wish all the politicians could emulate the President and his Deputy in the way they play the politics of uniting Kenyans. Recently you witnessed the Deputy President asking peacefully for votes in Migori, those are the kind of politics we want," he said.
The MP said he will lead by ensuring peaceful co-existence of all tribes in his constituency.
