Bahati Member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri has congratulated Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua for his election case victory.
Posting on his Facebook account Friday, the lawmaker lauded the Maendeleo Chapchap party leader after a Machakos court upheld his August 8 re-election on Friday.
''Congratulations my friend Dr Alfred Mutua Governor Machakos county for winning the Machakos Gubernatorial election petition,'' wrote Ngunjiri.
The petition was filed by former Kathiani lawmaker Wavinya Ndeti who emerged second in the contest.
Ndeti had alleged that the election was not done in accordance with the law, and through her lawyer Willis Otieno, raised concerns over alleged irregularities.
The applicant, who vied on a Wiper Party ticket, claimed that county officers, working under Mutua, were deployed during the election to tilt the victory towards the Governor.
She also raised bribery claims and added that there were irregularities in form 37C's used to declare Mutua the winner.
However, while making the ruling, Justice Aggrey Muchelule threw out Ndeti's claims concluding that the case lacked merit.
He added that Mutua was duly elected.
''I find that the case was not proved beyond doubt. The allegations are not established and lack merit,'' Muchelule ruled as is quoted by the Star.
As a repercussion, Ndeti was ordered to pay Sh10 million to both the IEBC and Mutua.
