Ngunjiri’s aide Joe Ngugi said the meeting was to discuss ‘political realignments’ but did not divulge more details.

The vocal Nakuru MP has in the past indicated that he will support Mbugua for a reelction. In 2013, Ngunjiri campaigned for former Nakuru Town MP Lee Kinyajui for the post.

Though details of the meeting remain a guarded secret, a Nakuru activist, said Ngunjiri want assurance that Mbugua will be comfortable with businessman Karanja Kabage’s candidature for the senate post before he (Ngunjiri) throws his support behind the governor.

Kinuthia has publicly declared Speaker Susan Kihika as the ideal candidate for the senate seat. Ngunjiri and Kihika don’t see eye to eye due to political differences picked during the 2013 TNA nominations.
