Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has pledged to work with the youth in 2016.
The MP said youth constitute the largest part of the population and there was no way they could be ignored.
He said his office would initiate development projects to be run by the youth.
The initiative, he said, aims at cutting youth unemployment.
He was speaking on Thursday in Lanet, Umoja, when he addressed residents and university students from the constituency.
The meeting was organised by the university students.
Samuel Chege a student leader said many students undertaking university studies had dropped out of their institutions of learning for lack of school fees.
Mr Ngunjiri also took issue with students who have accepted to be used by politicians looking for votes ahead of the 2017 general election.
