Bahati Member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri has defended the police over claims that they shot at Cord leader Raila Odinga's armoured car during the Monday protest against the IEBC commissioners.
Instead, Ngunjiri now blames goons for the damage on Raila's car, adding that the anti-IEBC demos are aimed at looting from traders.
"It is irrelevant to claim that the police shot at that windscreen. A bullet only makes a hole and not the cracks. That was the work of those goons who later looted from the traders and robbed lone passers," Ngunjiri told journalists in Nakuru on Tuesday.
Cord has planned weekly protests every Monday to push the commissioners out of office claiming they're partisan and so cannot hold a free and fair election in 2017.
However, Ngunjiri urged the coalition to embrace constitutional procedures to express their displeasure.
"Kenya is governed by a constitution passed by Kenyans and the Opposition should table their petition in Parliament and if they have sufficient grounds for their claims, we'll see what we can do with the commissioners.
