Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has indicated that he will withdraw the petition which he filed on Thursday seeking for the ouster of Chief Justice David Maraga for allegedly instituting a 'judicial coup' following the Supreme Court's decision to nullify President Uhuru Kenyatta's August 8 win.
In a statement posted on is twitter handle, the lawmaker said that he stands by his grievances in the petition but he will not pursue the issue for now.
"I stand by the grievances in the Maraga petition but due to the current political environment, I will not pursue it for now," said the first-time MP.
The legislator's decision not to pursue the matter further comes hot oh the heels of President Uhuru Kenyatta's plea to him not to pursue the matter and should 'let go'.
Ngunjiri's petition against the Chief Justice has elicited mixed reactions across the political divide with NASA coalition leadership accusing Jubilee of intimidating the Judiciary.
Thursday, the top Jubilee leadership led by Secretary General Raphael Tuju disowned Ngunjiri, Jubilee saying that the petition does not represent the party position.
