Youths from Nakuru County who do not have national identity cards have been urged to apply for the important document early enough before the 2017 general election.
Bahati Member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri told the youths to ensure that they have the document by next year, so that they can enroll as voters in preparation for 2017.
Speaking Wednesday afternoon when he addressed youth groups at the Maili Sita trading centre, Ngunjiri told the youths that their votes are important, but reminded them that they will not be able to vote without the Identity card or the voters’ card.
He told the youths their votes are very crucial considering that the jubilee party will be fighting to retain power in 2017.
“Many of you did into vote in 2017 because you did not have voters’ cards and the reason why you did not register is that you did not have identity cards and I want you to make sure that if you don’t have the identity card by next year you should have it so that you can register as voters,” said Ngunjiri.
Ngunjiri told the youth that the best way they could support the new JAP party is by being armed with a voter’s card.
“The best political weapon is the voters’ card and if you are a friend of JAP then you must make sure that you have your identity card and the voters’ card,” he said.
He promised to talk to the registrar of persons in the county so that they can take the registration exercise to the villages and at the same time urged the youths to apply for the document at the Huduma center, which he said is faster.
