Ngunjiri said that there are a lot of stone quarries in his constituency and the government must use some of the revenue generated by the quarries to fix roads leading to the quarries.

Speaking Sunday when he donated helmets to stone miners in Bahati, Ngunjiri said that the quarries generate a lot of money and it is saddening to have almost impassable roads in the area.

“In a single day, we can have more than two hundred lorries leaving this area loaded with stones and they are charged for every trip they make. We want to tell the government that part of that money should be used in fixing our roads," said Ngunjiri.

He added, "We cannot be contributing such money to the government and at the same time have roads like these. It is embarrassing and if the government ignores our advice, then they might as well loose the revenue they collect from here because one day all these lorries will have nowhere to pass because the roads will be like big trenches.”

Area ward representative Peter Nderitu said that the residents have every right to benefit from the stone mining industry in the area and one way of doing so is by the government using part of the money they collect to improve infrastructure in the area.

Bahati constituency has a booming stone mining industry which has employed hundreds of youths both in the mining sector and the transport sector.
