Narc leader Martha Karua is the most likely pick for Deputy President William Ruto’s running mate in 2022, political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has said.

Ngunyi was responding to Karua’s declaration that she will support President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election in 2017.

Ngunyi said the Narc leader's chances to run alongside Ruto will increase if she trounces former Devolution CS Ann Waiguru in the Kirinyaga governorship race. 

“The woman who becomes Kirinyaga governor will also become Ruto’s running mate in 2022. My bet is Martha,” he said.

Karua’s announcement comes as a shock considering that the former Gichungu Member of Parliament has been working with the opposition.

She reiterated her intention to gun for the Kirinyaga governorship.
