The disagreement in NASA is worsening daily as we near the August 8, polls. There were calls for a Kalonzo candidature or Kamba land goes solo followed by “No Mudavadi No NASA” protests. The public shows by these two opposition chiefs have been criticized but Mutahi Ngunyi supports Mudavadi’s push to be named flag bearer. The analyst says that Musalia Mudavadi owns NASA because he formed it and has the majority of votes.“For starters, Mudavadi owns Nasa. Similarly, he is the majority shareholder with 2.5 million votes compared to Raila’s 2.2 million and Kalonzo’s 2.1 million. And with this obvious dominance, the position of Chief Minister is thrown at him. To occupy this position, a constitutional amendment will have to happen because there is nothing like the office of a ‘Minister’ in our constitution. But if the position is created administratively, then it will be called Chief Cabinet Secretary (CS). However, this office is also not defined in our Constitution, which means it can be challenged in a court of law,” Ngunyi said.“For his 2.5 million votes and the ownership of Nasa, offering Mudavadi the position of ‘Chief CS’ is not an ordinary insult. It is an insult that falls ‘below the level of nonsense’. The offer compares to this proverbial …blind man, placed in a dark room to chase a black cat, which is not there! Raila is sending a blind Mudavadi into a dark room to chase a black cat (Chief Minister) which is not there! And Mudavadi knows it. This is why he is annoyed,” Ngunyi opined.
