Kenya Airways Chairman Michael Joseph has said that the airline Chief Executive Officer Mbuvi Ngunze will not be leaving and is part of the company's turnaround strategy also dubbed as ''Operation Pride'',which seeks to revive the airline from the series of losses it has been experiencing lately.

According to Joseph,Ngunze has been tasked with overseeing the renegotiation of loans terms between the airline and lenders in a bid to restructure the balance sheets and capital raising.

Mr Michael has also said that he will need Ngunze in order to realize the goals he has set.

''He is crucial to me at the moment,and i have told the pilots as much,He is in the middle of renegotiating with our financiers and better terms in order for us to get out of the financial hole we are in,''He was quoted by the Business Daily during a press conference to discuss his strategy after taking over as the new chair.

Mr Ngunze has been under pressure from the pilots who want him and former chair Dennis Awori to resign  amid mismanagement allegations.The Kenya Airline Pilots Association (Kalpa) called off the strike which was meant to force the two out of office after Joseph took over.

All the 450 pilots under the association were set to take part in the strike which had been scheduled for October 18th
