Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) pediatrician Dr. Philip Cheptinga has urged National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) to cater for kidney patients drugs after a kidney transplant.He said the cost of drugs is very high and cannot be afforded by patients.“We are happy that NHIF now cover 100 percent renal and Kidney transplant, we really appreciate but we all calling to extend the cover to cater for drugs after a kidney transplant,” he said in Eldoret town, Thursday.“Many patients succumb since they are unable to purchase drugs to sustain them because they cannot live without drugs. I urge NHIF to act at speed for more lives to be saved,” he added.He, however, urged Kenyans to always go for check up to know their sugar level and blood pressure because this is some of the dangerous diseases that claim millions of lives.“I want to call upon Kenyans to at least go for checkup one per year for you to be on a safer side. I also urge them to exercise regularly this will help remove the excess fats in our bodies,” noted Cheptinga.
