Milimani law court on Friday issued a warrant of arrest against an NIC Bank operations manager over a Sh16.9 million theft.

A banking fraud officer corporal Knocker Nyasinga asked the court to issue the warrant of arrest for Paul Githinji.

Githinji is accused to have disappeared after a theft incident that occurred on August 23. 

The suspect worked at NIC bank Buru Buru branch as an operation manager.

According to Nyasinga, Githinji switched off the CCTV camera in the bank and failed to show up for work on August 25.

When the branch vault was opened, Sh16,964,710.20 was reported missing.

Nyasinga said the suspect  has gone into hiding and his phone is off.

He added that detectives have traced him to his rural home in Nakuru county but they haven't found him.
