The NIC Bank plans to open four new branches in the Coast region in a move aimed at increasing its customer base and tap into the thriving tourism sector in the area.
The areas that are being targeted include Malindi, Watamu, Kilifi, and Diani.
The move will see the bank increase its presence to eight branches in the Coast region and 41 countrywide.
In a statement seen by the Business Daily, NIC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) John Gachora said that they are relying on the large customer base they have secured at the Coast and the increased business activities to expand their network.
“We have acquired a significant customer base in the Coastal region over the years and we see the potential of expanding our network by opening these fully fledged branches,” said Gachora.
The CEO said they considered the region as it has a number of fast-growing businesses in all the sectors, key among them the hospitality industry.
“This is a region with a lot of fast-growing businesses operating in various sectors,” Gachora added.
He further said that the bank plans to open 10 new branches around the country in the next couple of years.
