Through the Dr choksey albinism foundation NIC bank has donated 2.7 million so far since 2015 towards the education needs of children with albinism.
Goldalyn kakuya, the best performing student in the 2017 KCPE examination is one of the students who have been benefiting from the NIC sponsorship through Dr choksey foundation.
Speaking at the event, NIC banks group managing director, John Gachora, pledged that the bank would maintain its support for the Dr choksey albinism foundation.
“Galdalyn’s stellar performance during the K.C.P.E exam s was a compelling example of the high quality of the work that dr.choksey is doing through her foundation”
Present at the luncheon was Dr prabha choksey, whose foundation is focused on creating awareness about the education needs for children with albinism. Her foundation also provides free eye checkup and glasses.
“Over 80% of children with albinism attend schools for the visually impaired at primary school level. This is despite the fact that, with prescription glasses and a little assistance with large type text and high contrast written material, all children with albinism can attend normal schools,” said dr.chocksey
Goldalyn,who was given was given an opportunity to address the banks management and dr.choksey ,pledged to continue working hard and raise the awareness of children with albinism.
“When I was growing up people used to look down on me and the only way you could get back to them was through working hard, and today I promise to continue doing the same” said goldalyn
