A Nigerian man has denied ever raping Miss United States International University Africa (USIU).
Daniel Entony Daberechukwu denied charges that he forcefully took advantage of the campus beauty who is also of Nigerian nationality.
The accused is said to have committed the offence on the night of March 19 after they both attended a friend’s birthday bash at Thika Road Mall.
According to police reports, all those at the party were enjoying their alcohol and music up to 11pm when they decided to switch clubs around the campus.
The court was told that at around 1.30am, Daberechukwu and the complainant left for the hostel.
It is alleged that Daberechukwu then offered to escort the campus queen to her room as she was already too drunk.
Police said that Daberechukwu began kissing the complainant along the hostel corridors and instead of taking her to her room, he took her to his.
The girl woke up the following morning to find herself in bed while Daberechukwu was on the floor.
Court was told that it wasn’t until the Miss USIU reached her room that she realised her underclothes were missing and that her privates were also in pain.
But Daberechukwu has since denied the charges and freed on a Sh500,000 bond with orders to immediately deposit his passport in court. The matter next comes for hearing on June 9.
