A dormitory at Sigoti girls secondary school in Nyakach was on Sunday morning burnt after a mysterious fire broke out at 4:00 am.
The fire destroyed the property of unknown value at the dormitory with reports indicating that there were causalities.
The regional police commandant noted that the cause of the inferno was yet to be established adding that investigation had already been launched.
"My officers are on the ground trying to get to the root cause of the matter," Katana said as quoted by a local daily.
The affected students have been moved to other premises as the school sorts out the issue.
The accident came just a week after fire also broke out at Ogada Secondary School in Kisumu burning a dormitory.
