Through their Kenya Night Runners Union (KNU), members claimed that they are facing a lot of intimidation from the public in the recent past yet they are doing their activities with decorum.

Union chairman Jack Songo said that the recent intimidation especially in Homabay County has been contributed by rampant killings of sheep by wild animals which found their way out of the Lambwe game reserves.

Songo said that the community has accused their hyenas for the killings yet theirs are well restrained and have tags marked with the letters KNU saying they rarely get their way out from their confinements.

The chairman said that there is a need to sit down with the Kenya Wildlife Service and discuss the issue of the wild animals loitering freely disrupting the community to end constant pointing of fingers to the night runners.

He appealed to the public to allow them conduct their night running activities without any interference.

Songo added that he is likely to visit Kisumu and Migori Counties soon for the graduation ceremony of some of their members.

He said they will demonstrate to the public some of their activities in broad day light so that they can recognize night running as a sport.
