Matatu driver Martin Kamau says driving on the Kwambira-Bata Road was a nightmare for both the motorists and passengers.

“I drive passengers at least five times from Limuru to Nairobi and back daily. You can only imagine the discomfort of using this road that many times daily,” said Kamau.

Kamau said the road has been in such a terrible condition for years with the reigning leadership only repairing it through patching method where they fill the potholes temporarily.

Jane Wambua, a resident of Limuru added to the woes residents go through.

She said a week ago, a bodaboda operator died along the stretch after a lorry carrying charcoal fell while manoeuvring a pothole.

“I get shivers every time I am using this road especially when carried by a bodaboda. The bodaboda rider who died was carrying a school pupil to school early in the morning when he met his death, and the pupil suffered multiple injuries and was hospitalised,” she said.

Wambua, and tens of Limuru residents are asking the national and county governments to repair the road quickly.

Limuru opinion leader Harun Njoroge said, “It is not clear the government mandated to repair the road, but all we want is for the road to be usable and cease from being a dangerous road.”

Njoroge said the road was a shame for the area since it was the main entry point for all persons coming into Limuru.
