A total of nine water bore holes are set to be constructed in South West Kisumu ward to alleviate cases of water shortage in the area. The ward representative Joseph Abiola said his people have faced a cute water shortage and the bore holes will relieve them. Abiola said the bore holes will be constructed in schools, markets and health centres. “Funds are ready and the construction will commence immediately. The identification of the sites are people driven,” he said. He said there was public participation on where the bore holes should be constructed. Abiola said his people were prone to contract water borne disease due to lack of clean water. Speaking at his ward during a public baraza at Obambo market after a tour of projects with Governor Jack Ranguma, Abiola asked his people to ensure they boil drinking water. Abiola further asked Ranguma to increase the bursary allocation from the initial Sh. 1 million per ward to Sh. 1.8 million. “There are many students who are bright from poor families and are unable to access secondary school, Hon. Governor please hear of pleas and increase the allocation,’ he said. He said the increment will ensure that more deserving students are catered for and access to secondary school, colleges and universities is increased.
