Gatundu North MP Kigo Njenga has asked his constituents to register with the electoral body to increase their numbers to re-elect the President during the next general election.
Speaking on Saturday when he attended a fundraiser for a family whose property burnt in an inferno, Njenga said having a majority is the great advantage the presidency has in the 11th parliament while urging residents to give him the numbers even in the next election.
"The opposition is currently holding a campaign to register voters while we have almost forgotten our role in emphasising the same call," he said.
However he faulted parliament for failing to change the election date from August to December saying it will interfere with the Kenyan economy.
He cited the budget preparation exercise whereby he observed that parliament will have to be dissolved in May leaving no time for budget preparation.
The MP claimed that the school calendar may also be interfered with since many polling stations were classrooms and said should there be a run-off the children would have to be out of school for a longer period.
“The budget will not have been prepared when parliament is dissolved. Also, there will be a disruption in the school calendar since our polling stations are school classrooms," he said.
