Intelligence gathering has been identified as a way of improving an efficient taxation system.

Addressing a forum during the launch of the tax summing being held at the University of Nairobi ongoing Kenya Revenue Authority Commissioner John Njiraini stressed on the need to have capacity in sharing best practices

The summit is bringing together stakeholders to discuss on enhancing trade facilitation.

“There is not a single cent we collect today and touch it to the fingers, all the money we collect, we use the banking system, and that has been part of the process to try and reduce problems that the private sector has raised,”.

“Part of the biggest problem we have is when people touch it, this leads to corruption. Our aim is to address as much as possible situations that create the opportunity for human discretion,” he added.

The KRA system has time and again come under scrutiny, with many pointing at loopholes that are exploited by individuals who evade tax payments.
