Kiambu town MP Jude Njomo wants more police officers deployed in the town to increase surveillance and guarantee residents of their safety.
Briefing journalists at Kiambu town on Thursday, Njomo observed that despite the security scares in the country, the town has few security personnel.
The MP said that armed security personnel should be deployed to guard key premises including banks, hospitals, shopping malls, churches and schools.
“We want to ask the government to increase the number of security personnel in Kiambu town. Security is important and must be provided at all times to ensure that development activities are not interfered with,” he said.
Njomo also asked the county government to repair street lights that have been damaged saying it will help reduce crime.
The legislator, however, said that security is a responsibility of every citizen and leader. He said that every Kenyan must work with the government to address the issue of terrorism.
Njomo said that continued criticism of the government by some politicians would not help but urged them to offer their opinions and suggestions in the right manner and through right channels.
At the same, the Kiambu lawmaker wants the government to compensate families that lost their children in the Garissa terror attack.
He said that though no amount of money can bring them to life, the government should provide support to the victims and survivors.
Njomo said that the country is grieving and saddened following the loss of innocent lives through the cruel hands of terrorists.
“We must join hands as Kenyans, pray together, console each other this difficult moment of grief,” said the MP.
