Kiambu MP Jude Njomo has rubbished allegations of protecting land grabbers who ruthlessly demolished Ndumberi Secondary School purporting that Kiambu County government is to be blamed for the same.
This comes after a section of Kiambu leaders and area residents were accusing MP Njomo of taking sides with the land grabbers and being the person behind the demolition of the institution which left more than 300 students without classrooms for allegedly learning in unregistered Public School.
Njomo said that the central government often gives a warning before demolition and thus the county government should have engaged the School management to seek a solution to the problem without necessarily demolishing classrooms.
He said that before the demolition, he had arranged a meeting between the School Board and the Ministry of Education which was all in vain only for the School to be demolished later that night.
Njomo further accused the county Governor William Kabogo of making it known to the students that the only way to solve a problem is through violence and destruction of property.
He said that the county government should not be destroying property, instead dialogue and notice should be given a chance be for such huge losses are incurred adding that the same was witnessed in Madaraka Primary School, Madaraka Market in Thika and Kirigiti round about kiosk cases respectively where lots of property were allegedly destroyed.
Njomo who was speaking on Monday in Ndumberi promised to expedite the resolution of the matter at hand and that the students to continue with their learning “come rain, come sunshine.”
He expressed his concerns about the demolition of the School saying that National government is trying to meet the huge demand of education in the country yet the county government is destroying the existing ones.
