Kiambu Township Member of Parliament Jude Njomo has urged Kiambu residents to join hands in the fight against illicit as the brew is killing the young generation and future leaders of the country.
Speaking at Kiambu Town on Thursday, the legislator expressed his concerns with the increased number of deaths caused by consumption of substandard alcohol and thus urged parents and residents to embrace the Nyumba Kumi initiative and report those who sell counterfeit products.
"We can only stop this killer alcohol if we embrace Nyumba Kumi and report those involved in the heinous act, This will help in ending the misery of our sons and future generation,” said the legislator.
This comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered the arrest of those selling the brew saying the perpetrators should be brought to book and the den closed indefinitely.
Njomo vowed to stand by the words of the head state and urged leaders to join hands in the fight against the illegal alcohol which is killing the sons and daughters of the county.
“Let us join Kiambu leaders in saying No to the sale of the counterfeit products in our motherland, bearing in mind the central part of Kenya is the most affected in terms of brewing of the illicit homemade liquor,” said Njomo.
The law maker lauded Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu for destroying the counterfeit liquor in his area of jurisdiction saying it was an act of leadership and Kiambu leaders should emulate him.
He vowed not to relent in the fight against illicit brew saying he will ensure the sale of the unregistered products is curbed in the constituency.
