Speaking after holding a meeting at Njoro town Center on Tuesday, the elders complained over the rise in criminal activities in the area.

Through their leader Isaac Korir, the elders said crime cases have escalated in some parts of the town and called for police action to curb the vice.

“We are concerned by the state of security in Njoro and want to appeal to the government to do something about that before things go out of hand,” said Korir.

The elders said the government must ensure that every citizen is protected and has a safe environment to do business without any fear.

At the same time, the elders called on the area leaders to engage with the people that elected them often to make them understand what their priorities are, in terms of development.

He said that many leaders who were elected are not concerned with what their people are going through adding that elected leaders should work for the people who elected them to do a way with many challenges they face.

“Some of our leaders have not been coming back to their constituencies since the time they were elected two years ago,” claimed Korir.

The elder also said that some leaders have abandoned development projects they initiated and called on the county government to intervene.

He asked the county government to spearhead development and help improve the living conditions of the people.
