The MCA while addressing the public at Njoro town on Wednesday, complained over the deteriorating security.

Kariuki alleged that petty crimes have increased and called on the police to deal with the criminals.

The MCA said that he has been receiving complaints especially from small scale business people who are lamenting over the increase in crime.

“Law enforcers must up their game and provide adequate security to business people and residents at large, security for wholesale owners, barbershop owners, supermarkets and even ‘mama mboga’s’ should be provided at all times,” said the MCA.

Kariuki noted that provision of security is a responsibility of the government adding that residents have a right to security.

The MCA also asked the public to cooperate with the police to fight crime.

“The public must work closely with the police. They are the people who know these criminals. Give information to the police and you will be safe,” he added.

The MCA said that development will be hindered in the ward if security of residents is not taken care of.

Kariuki pledged to work with the county and national government to ensure locals are safe.
