A Njoro political aspirant will lead residents of Njoro Ward to collect signatures in a bid to recall the areas embattled member of the County Assembly Ezekiel Kungu. Joseph Waweru who was defeated by the incumbent in the last general elections says the area residents have lost confidence in the Member of the County Assembly and should recall him. Waweru, also a local businessman while talking to tis writer in Njoro township today said he would from Monday next week launch a vote of no confidence campaign against the seating Member of the County Assembly representative for failure to represent the interests o0f the Ward residents in the county assembly and government. According to Waweru.no single development plan has been initiated or implemented since the incumbent was elected and attributed most development projects in the area to the Constituency Development Fund. “We are not going to wait for two years to get what we deserve. We will get it now by recalling non performing people who were sent to the county assembly to represent our interests but unfortunately they are just eating and sleeping. They should be replaced because we have more competent people around,’’said Waweru. He added that the Ward has never benefited from the Ward Development Fund that is controlled by members of the County Assembly, yet the township was lacking many public amenities like tapped water, public toilets, poor roads and lighting. Recently, the incumbent escaped narrowly from rowdy residents who were protesting against water shortage and lack of public toilets in the township, when they pelted him with stones and sticks after he attempted to address them. He however in a quick response the MCA had blamed the protests to an underhand of his political rivals.
