Speaking to this writer on Monday in Njoro Township, Absalom Nderitu, the Chairman of Njoro Grassroots Land Business Operators Association, said the dubious land dealers have camped base in the region, and were affecting their business operations.

Nderitu, while urging the Nakuru County Government’s Ministry of Lands to crack the whip and eradicate the land fraudsters, warned that the association would soon expose the individuals and companies engaged in illegal land buying and selling businesses to the media and law enforcers.

He at the same time pledged the willingness of his association to cooperate with the government in eradicating what he termed as a syndicate that was fleecing off unsuspecting members of the public and tax collector tens of millions annually while tainting the image of the local land business sector.

“We are very much concerned with these con people who are taking root in Njoro region. They are coning millions out of unsuspecting members of the public and evading tax while we lose market for our businesses,” lamented Nderitu, adding that the government and other stakeholders should carry out continuous civil education to enlighten members of the public on pertinent land property laws among other issues.

He however blamed the vice on corruption in the lands department of both the county and national governments that he claimed were abetting the land related criminals.

The chairman noted that the fake dealers were targeting semi illiterate and poor land sellers and buyers in the sub county, who are not exposed and well versed with land buying and selling procedures by offering either to buy or sell lands and also helping maneuver the complex land search and documentation procedures.
