Nakuru Water and Sewerage Services Company (Nawassco) Managing Director Reuben Korir has defended the company over allegations that it has been unable to provide water to Njoro town residents.
Korir said on Monday that the water shortage in the area is as a result of huge arrears owed to the company by water users amounting to more than six million shillings.
"The company is doing its best with the little resources it has to ensure that people have water in their taps", Korir said at his Nakuru office.
The MD added that even when paying bills like electricity they are required to source funds from elsewhere.
He added: "The money owed to us is quite huge. I would request our Njoro residents to be a bit patient with us."
Korir said that they are in talks with Nakuru County Government and Rift Valley Water Services Board to ensure there is continuous flow of water in the county.
"Our aim is to partner together to improve water infrastructures in Njoro and also have a storage in the area", he said.
