Njoro Youth Group Union Secretary General Absolom Rotich during a consultative meeting with the Union’s leaders at the union’s office at Egerton Centre on Friday, said the union fully supports the petition and wants Nakuru High Court to rule in favour of the petitioners who want the county government public service board compelled to stop discriminating members of minority ethnic groups in jobs and other resource allocations.

According to the group leader, the chief petitioner Shadrack Kosgey is right in his augments that are based on existing records and statistics.

He observed that the county being a cosmopolitan region, therefore the county government should not discriminate resource allocations against areas dominated by minority groups or residents who do not belong to ethnic communities perceived to be supporters of the opposition.

“We fully support the petition because the petitioners are fighting for the rights of all residents of this cosmopolitan county. No section of the county or residents should be discriminated against based on ethnicity or political backgrounds,” said Rotich.

Rotich claimed that there is evidence that the county government is exercising discrimination in the allocation of jobs and development resources adding that the court should uphold the petition.
