A section of Njoro youth have petitioned the National Land Commission (NLC) to intervene and have to repossess their grabbed plot in Mauche Shopping Centre, Njoro sub-county, Nakuru County .
The youth say that an influential individual is behind the scam.
Speaking on Friday at Mauche Shopping centre, Njoro Youth Chair, Philip Rotich urged NLC to move quickly to have the plot reverted to them.
“Our plot that was meant for youth development has been grabbed by a private developer. We are calling on NLC to intervene to have it reverted to us,” said Rotich.
Rotich added that similar ills have been extended to other public facilities.
“Market places and land earmarked for construction of education institutions have been grabbed too,” said Rotich.
He accused land officials of working in cahoots with land cartels in duplicating fake title deeds.
“Land officials are working secretly with criminals to produce fake title deeds. Some plots are bearing more than one title deed,” said Rotich.
He however urged the youth not to use unlawful means to repossess the grabbed plot.
The issue of land grabbing has hit headlines lately revealing a rot where public land has been grabbed leading to intervention of NLC.
