Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery has warned Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago against making inflammatory remarks.
Speaking on Thursday, Nkaissery revealed that the National Cohesion and Integration Commission was interrogating Mandago's remarks made last week.
He noted that should the County Chief be found culpable, the law would follow its course.
“Governor Mandago made an outrageous statement and the National Cohesion and Integration Commission is investigating. If evidence is adduced and the utterances of the governor and Honourable Sudi are found to be inciting Kenyans against others, then the legal process will take its course,” he said.
His sentiments were reiterated by Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet, who affirmed the government's commitment to ensuring peace ahead of polls.
“We will not allow anybody to create trouble in the search for votes. We will enforce the law as it is and will deal with any lawbreaker irrespective of political affiliation," he said.
