The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) has no right to talk about land injustices in any part of this country, Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery has said.
Speaking on Tuesday at the Akamba Handicraft Industry in Changamwe, Nkaissery said Cord co-principals Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula held senior positions in government in the past, but did nothing to solve the land issues in the Coastal region.
"They should have used their positions to ensure the people of the Coast got their land rights," Nkaissery said.
"They told you if you elected Uhuru, your land 'will go'. Has anyone seen any land being grabbed since Uhuru took over? Hasn’t he instead been issuing title deeds?” he asked, as quoted by The Star.
Land has been a thorny issue for a long time in the country, with the opposition accusing the Jubilee government of insincerity in ensuring that land injustices are fully resolved.
